On Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th Illminster school from Gisborne swapped some students from our school with students form their school to compete in a range of sports, from Rugby to Table Tennis. The results were oh so close and it all ended in a tie. Well done all of those who competed hard but fairly.

My Aquarium Visit

On Wednesday the 3rd of June Me (Alice Lumsden) and Kendra Monteith from Room 21 went to the New Zealand National Aquarium. We were both chosen to participate in the meeting of the minds day. We did lots of exciting activities and even dissected a squid! We made a project each to be judged for the Jock McKenzie award. It was a really fun day!

Experimenting with Oobleck!

Recently in Room 21 we have been experimenting the fascinating mysteries of Oobleck. Oobleck has a mixture of cornflour and water with a ratio of 3:1. With our Oobleck we experimented by seeing what would happen if we punched our Oobleck, rolled it into a ball, let it sit on our had and many more MESSY things. With our testing we found that force would make the the Oobleck stiff and dry but leaving it or touching it slowly would make it liquid. So is it a liquid or not? Who knows! Our next challenge is to build a functional spacecraft that can land and take off easily from a sticky sea of Oobleck!
